16th birthday party ideas HELP!?

i am not really a big party person so i dont really know how to plan a party. i am inviting alot of people and some i want to impress. i dont want my party to be lame. its in 2 weeks and i cant spend alot of money. i was thinking a jumper would be fun my mom wanted to get a dj too. can someone help me with some ideas for an awsome not fancy sweet 16 birthday party that will impress but not be like the ones on the tv show. the most popular themes are always LA, Vegas, hollywood, a certain decade (like the 70s), a specific color.... and with those you can add colorful lights, red carpet, fake gambling...you can also have games like spin the bottle 7 min in heaven, mystery murders are always a ton of fun-thats what my friend did, and it took a little planning, but it was like a game the whole time and i turned out to be the murderer!





in general, a dj would be really good. ive never heard the term jumper (bouncy house? is that what you mean?), those are really fun as long as your friends will appreciate it and not think they're at a little kids party...and if ppl are wearing skirts/dresses, it might not be appropriate.

heres what i paln on doing 4 my sweet 16 - maybe it'll give you some ideas ~





theme - just colors - black, purple, and silver.





attire - casual/non-formal. jeans-and-tee. but people can wear the theme colors. of course, i'm gonna get a nice outfit and look alittle fancier than the guests since it's my birthday.





location - we don't have a huge budget so it's gonna be at my house, but we have a big living room!! i'm gonna push all the furniture to the side, take out anything valuable, and put up some decorations.





decorations - obviously i'm gonna stick w/my theme colors - i'm gonna put purple and black streamers around the 2 entrys to the living room and hang them in the living room and in the kitchen, which is right off of the living room. i'm gonna get a whole bunch of balloons and put them everywhere. some will have helium in them and be on the ceiling, some will be in decarative bunches around the room, some will be taped up as decoration, but the rest will be just sitting on the floor.





i'm also gonna borrow some purple Christmas lights from my grandma and hang them on the banister where people first come in, put a purple rope light up, and maybe hang some white Christmas lights as well. i'll also put up a disco ball.





music - i don't have a lot, but i'm going to ask friends to bring ipods to hook up, or burned cds to listen to.





food - chips, dip, veggies w/dip, cheese, sausage, and crackers, this delicious bagel dip, jello, cookies, golden graham smores (google - it's amazing tasting!!), cookies, skittles, m%26amp;ms, pringles, etc. i'm thinking of smokies and small other food too. oh, and cupcakes for dessert.





extra details - we're just gonna dance and hang the night away, the party will be from like 7 till whenever, even though i'll be 16, i'm gonna have a pinata!!!, around 50 people will be invited and they're allowed to bring a guest so i'm thinkin' there will be around 35-75 peoples.

i had the EXACT same problem for my 16th too =p. i ended up just having heaps of my mates over nd having a dj etc Themes work reeeeeeeally well! Why not having like an 80's theme or a specific colour theme?? all my friends loved dressing up. you could also have some older party games...like spin the bottle =D
