My new boyfriend (I'll call Todd) invited me to a bithday party of his friend (call her Jane). I've met Jane before with hers and Todd's other friends but I was drunk and acting kinda foolish drunkily flirting with Todd before we started dating. I'm not that worried that they might judge me from my drunk first meeting as much as comparing me to his ex-girlfriend whom they friends are still close friends with although Todd isn't. Todd had a long serious relationship with her about 2 years ago and I'm not sure if they would want to see him with the new girl, especially at Jane's bd party. Do you think I should go to the party with boyfriend because he invited me and I should get to know his friends since he has met many of mine? Or should I not bother attending this party since I don't really know the birthday girl that well and I might be more of an expected nuisance than a new girlfriend of Todd's that they would want to meet again?

Of course you should go. A good way to meet Todd's friends and the center of attention will be on the birthday girl and not on you. Just don't drink too much. Think how Todd will feel if you don't go with him or his friends might think you don't like them if you don't go.
