1st birthday party!?

My son is going to be turning one May 2 and i want to have a party for him but i am not sure where. My BF wants to have it at Peter piper pizza, Itz, or chuckE Cheese. Do you think that is to much for a 1st b-day party!? Or should we just have a party at home? I want it to be fun! What would be cute invitations? Or party theme?

My BF already took off work just to have a party for him!

1st birthday party!?
Hi!

I agree with most of the other answers... I think you would have the best time by having a small party at home....

As for invitation / theme ideas... here are some cute ones:

Have a great time!! :-)
Reply:I would say that is too much for a one year old. They are still easily overwhelmed. If he likes water sprinklers just have it at home and set one up. My boy will be having his second birthday party at the end of this month. With his swingset, sprinkler, another water toy....there will be MORE than enough going on even though my husband HAS invited so many other children LOL
Reply:Theme: Boy's First Birthday!

Colors: Blue and white, and gold (maybe)

Where: At your house, in a backyard, put up tables under a blue tent-thing.

Invitations: Cute, match with decor.

Cake: Buy a Wilton Cakes Yearbook, amazing cakes...

Good luck and Best Wishes for your new son!

Reply:come on make it big so later years will pass by and you show you re son his party pics and he will say woo all that for

me he will love it and its his first birthday
Reply:He's only going to be ONE at best, he'll be awake for the entire event.

He has no idea what's going on. Make this a celebration for you. You were able to keep this helpless creature alive for an entire year and not lose your mind in the process
Reply:LOL...the first party is always for the parents ;)

maybe a small gathering at Mc D'ss ... most do parties and the fees they charge are extremely resonable.
Reply:Too much for a one year old. have it at home.
Reply:I just had my daughter's 1st last Saturday. We talked about having it out but thought she was still too young. So we had it at the house. Let me tell you, we had the nicest party!! Everyone had a great time and I enjoyed decorating the house and mailbox!! My husband said let's have her party at the place she spends the most time, home!! He was right. She was most comfortable there! And wasn't overwhelmed with all the people, gifts, and surroundings. Keep that in mind. Good luck and I hope I helped!!
Reply:Unless you feel comfortable letting a bunch of one-year olds run through the mazes and tunnels and slides with a bunch of big kids (YIKES) I would wait on the pizza places.

You could still have a fun, memorable party though. For my daughter's first, we just invited over all the people who love her (relatives, neighbors,) and had a BBQ. We bought a really adorable cake, let her open some presents, and that was about it. Even that turned out to be a little overstimulating for her.

A Theme Idea: you could make his first year the theme. Have pictures of him growing up all over the place, put together a scrap book or album of his first year, first words, etc. You could also find party favor ideas on photo websites like Shutterfly. And kids LOVE balloons, so you could have balloons everywhere.

The most important thing, imo, is the pictures. Just take lots of fun pictures for your son to look at later. That way, even though he might not appreciate it now, he'll appreciate it later.
Reply:definitly have a barbeque. one is too young for chuck e cheese. etc. but this is the time when all of your relatives get to catch up on things. dwayne should enjoy time around his family. water toys and sprinklers might be a bit too cold on may 2. id say games. toys. food... maybe make your own sundaes?

good luck
Reply:i would say peter piper pizza...... there are games there he can play on and also at chuckEcheese too%26gt; but peter piper pizza is cheaper by far.

i would do a monster truck theme.... u can find party plates at walmart or actually i would look for whatever theme walmart has and go by that to make it less stress ful and expensive since your son wont remember this birthday%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt; but you will have pictures to show!?

i would do a party package at peter pipers for a certain amount of kids? friends or relatives that are small.

and then have the adults buy their own pizza and drink........

i have been to more than a dozen parties at peter piper and thats how it was done.........

or you dont even have to buy the party package and just buy a few pizzas and take sodas for them and then take a cake and party plates.............just use your imagination and be creative%26gt; u can make it as cheap as possible if you just shop around......%26gt; 99cent stores too. or a dollar tree dollar general....and like i said wal mart%26gt;%26gt;%26gt; big lots

also at home is good... maybe rent a jumping balloon. and then buy all the party themed supplies and make your own food %26gt;hamburgers hot dogs%26gt; or what ever your son eats
Reply:no way...they only turn 1 once so go all out. My son turns one on the 4th of july so that will be huge.

we are doing winnie the pooh theme and its at our house..pool, slip and slide, games, slush ice machine, popcorn machine, a big hop matt like at carnivals, a clown, magician, and of course fireworks...however kids of all ages will be there. then the adults party later!
Reply:It's silly do anything more then have close family and some close friends over at your house. At 1 years old..they dont know it's a party for them anyway.
Reply:first b-days should be small and intimate, close family and friends only so as not to overwhelm the child. It should be all about him not you. Cook his favorite food and do his a few of his favorite activities. Decorate one area of your house with bright colors the night before while he is asleep then wake him up in the morning with the birthday song and take to the special area you've created for him. Tell him today is his special day and make sure to take lots of pictures documenting all of this for him to look back on. Remember to have lots of fun with him.
Reply:honestly, i'd wait with chucke Cheese, etc till the child is older and he and his friends can enjoy it. I'd just have a fun home party with family and close friends, have a bbq or something...lots of cake and ice cream.

Have fun!
Reply:Wow I think you will definitely overwhelm your 1 year old by going to some place like Chuck E Cheese or Peter Piper Pizza. Have an at home party, a small gathering with close family and a few friends if you want. We thought a big party would be fun for my daughter so we had over ALL the relatives and had this huge BBQ and she ended up overly stimulated, tired and cranky through the whole thing. There were over 20 people there and it was just too much for her.

Have a relaxed party at home. Make it simple for him and don't have a lot of activities. Do maybe a lunch, open presents and cake and that's it. Don't do anything too structured. Be limber and lax and go with the flow. :)

By the way, kudos to your boyfriend for being involved like that!!
Reply:On my son's 1st birthday I went all out from clowns to moonwalks and catering from Luther's BBQ.The best BBQ you can have in Texas.Your 1st birthday is suppose to be a big celebration right?Even though he's little that's his first birthday.
