Vegan birthday party?

I am vegetarian my child is as well, but I am thinking about going vegan, and if I go vegan my child will to, the thing is her birthday party is comming up, it was originally going to be a pizza party, with the normal cake and ice cream, but I am thinking about changing that, the thing is I don't know how receptive everyone will be to a vegan birthday party, I don't know if they'll like the food, The food will all be vegan, which will mean vegan cake, ice cream, and snacks.

Do you all think I should just have the regular birthday party with the regular pizza and dairy ice cream, the chips and stuff? Or should I just do a vegan party?

Vegan birthday party?
I agree with salmonella, I bet no one would even know that the cakes and snacks are vegan.

And you could still have pizza, just veggie pizza :]

Edit: Yeah just lie and say that your daughter is allergic to dairy. In my opinion people are more accepting of people with food allergies.
Reply:Just buy soy ice cream, the kind for vegans and lactose-intolerant people. I can't tell the difference between Soy Decadence and the other high-end brands, and regular ice cream, and they aren't that disparate in price.

The pizza will be a bit more difficult, but honestly, it's not going to taste that different if you put a bit of that fakey parmesan or vegan-rella. I personally have a problem with those vile processed fake-dairy products, but I doubt a lot of those kids will tell the difference if you don't tell them. If it's that problematic, just feed them something else - soy hot dogs or something that tricks them into thinking it's garbage full of sulphites, salt and grease.
Reply:Child Abuse you're not giving this kid dead animal .Just Kidding

Its either do it know or next year

The parents will survive one day with out meat and dairy
Reply:I say make it vegan and tell them afterwards. It might shock them that being vegan can be so good! I have to admit that I have never had a truly wonderful vegan pizza though.
Reply:it's not as if you have to hang a banner that says "Welcome to the vegan birthday!"

I promise NO ONE will notice if the cake/ ice cream is vegan, and few will notice no cheese on a pizza.

Congratulations on going vegan!
Reply:Do a combination. The partiers can have what they want then.

1 thumb up and 4 thumbs down eh? I guess that means it's more important to force your food on someone than give them a choice. Interesting but not surprising.
Reply:go vegan now!

what's the point of having a vegetarian party and THEN going vegan..your gonna end up in the same situation next year (which will go by REALLY quickly-time flies!:) so just face it now and have a vegan b-day party. vegan cake is realllly goood (not much different...) but unless you make it yourself(TONS of great vegan cake recipes online!:) , it might be kind of tough finding a vegan bakery in your area..but nooot impossible!. Tofutti, Soy Dream, etcc and all those VEGAN ice creams taste super good as well! (no one will notice unless you tell them, they will/mightt taste a slight difference..but a pleasant one :D) and some common snacks that kids normally eat are already vegan! check out this list --%26gt;http://www.peta.org/accidentallyVegan/Ve...

have a vegan partay!=] and have funnnn xoxoxox%26lt;333
Reply:Why not have a vegan birthday party? I know all the parties I have at my place are 100% vegan and people come back, so I guess it's not that bad ;-)

You can still have it the way you planed: vegan pizza (try vegan cheese for example), vegan cakes and soy-milk ice cream. You'll just have to make the pizza and cakes yourself, that's all.

Any cake recipe is "veganizable", you just have to replace the milk by soy milk, the butter by vegan margarine, and the eggs by some cornstarch mixed in a little water.

Hope it helps, and happy birthday to your daughter! Not causing any suffering in her name is probably the best gift you could ever get her.

Go vegan!
Reply:Go for it and have fun! Like everyone else said, you have sooo many options!

Type in Vegan Recipes into your yahoo browser, and some really great sites come up with delicious recipes.

I personally love to make Vegan food for people and watch them devour it, having no clue how healthy they are being! You do not have to inform your guests that the menu will be Vegan, some may not know what that is, others may not be receptive, like you said. But once they eat the food and love it, feel free to tell them at the end. LOL, or you can just word it as your menu was "meat-free, dairy free...etc. free...."

One thing you may wish to look into though, is some families do not eat Soy. They have their own reasons/beliefs behind this, and that is their business.(Although others may have soy allergies) That being said, you might want to double check that this does not include any of your guests, and may want to use other things for some of your menu items!

If, in the end, you do decide to not do an exclusively Vegan menu, you still have some options...definetly use ALL Organic products--organic Dairy Ice Cream, Organic frozen pizzas, etc. and you can always just through in one or two Vegan menu items to suite your taste!

And just remember to not let anyone ever make you feel badly about the choices you make for yourself and your Family!
Reply:vegan party, i bet no one would know the difference with the cake and ice cream. think of it as a vegan induction party
Reply:Go for it now.My kids friends eat what we eat all the time and don't even notice, it's not an issue-it's equally as good if you do it right.I make vegan pizza, sauage rolls, jelly, cake etc - all the normal party type foods and it goes down a storm.I recently made a vegan cake for a friend, who shared it with her boss (-without telling him it was vegan) who claimed it was the best cake he'd ever eaten. Her boss is one of these people set in his ways who thinks vegan food would be a plate of sawdust and lettuce ! She's since told him and he's had to eat his words basically. The point of that story is-don't tell the adults as they're the worst for pre-judging !

p.s-my daughter had a sleepover party where they made their own pizza and fries, then prepared vegan icecream, strawberries, chocolate sauce and chopped nuts for dessert. They all loved it.

p.p.s-remember there's always 'some' kid gonna complain whether it's vegan or not !

p.p.p.s-seems like a good start to going vegan with a celebration to me ! Enjoy x
Reply:I say take the plunge if you are thinking of doing this anyway. If you go with really good ingredients, I don't think anyone will be missing out. Depending on the number of people you will be having, you could do a "make your own" pizza party. Trader Joe's and other such stores sells premade pizza dough in both whole wheat and white. You can preshred the vegan cheese (I like "Vegan Gourmet"...it melts really well) and have toppings like vegan pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, onions, etc. already in bowls and ready to go.

The soy ice cream can be made the night before in an ice cream maker or there are a lot of great brands out there like Purely Decadent or Soy Cream by Double Rainbow. They both have decent vanilla flavors that are great if you want to do a "make your own" hot fudge sundae....or make them your self if you think it will cause too much mess.

Anyhow, I hope that helps and I wish your kid a very happy birthday!
Reply:have the party, then go vegan.
