Up until Jr. was elected I believed it was important to have both parties in government. One protected the people and one protected business's. Although I feel this is still true, I can't find any compassion or compromise for humanity in the Republican party anymore. Narrowmindedness has control of both parties, and noone cares enough to do anything productive to help the economy. Sure feels like a recession to me Jr.! (oops I forgot, we dont have homeless in America either!)
Explain why your a republican. I want to be fair since there isn't a AMERICAN party that incorperates both party ideals.. Can You?
Republican party basic concepts?
Blah Blah..
This is why I'm a Democratic.
Reply:Allright.
1. Less government. Government is here to preserve our basic rights, no more, no less.
2. A literal reading of the constitution. Very liberal gun control laws and such. [liberal gun control laws means less laws]
3. Anti Social Security and Universal Health Care. Those are both examples of big government telling people how they can spend their money.
4. Anti - Affirmative Action. Affirmative Action is simply reverse discrimination.
The only reason the Republican party looks so bad right now is that President Bush has too many neo-conservatives as his advisors and key staff. Neo-cons should not be confused with republicans.
Reply:I'm going to be honest, I am a Democrat. That said, I have some real problems with both parties.
Like you said, I have a problem with a group who claim they are both religiously motivated, yet against any charitable effort to help the underprivileged. Such as the homeless, Disabled Veterans, and uninsured children. I have problems with the discrimination against Gays because they want to marry. I believe that, while I can not see myself endorsing a single act of abortion, that abolishing it will only bring back the practice of illegal, back-alley abortions where both parties die. Life begins, not at birth, nor at conception, but at some point between the two and there are legitimate reasons where an abortion can be justified.
I also have a problem with the blatant abuses of welfare. I have problems with the idea that only outlaws have guns. I have problems with allowing immigrants, who have already broken the law by sneaking across the border, staying here with no repercussions; allowing them to work when they cannot pay taxes with out a Social Security Number; and allowing them access to taxpayer money to do so. And I pay too much in Taxes as it is.
Republicans have become a party of the rich, who only care about themselves, their personal and business interests. The Democrats encompass every body else; both unions, who are dependant on businesses, and environmentalists who are greatly opposed to many of those same businesses.
We do need a third party to make sense of it all.
Reply:Republicans are just sick of whiny Democrats. We don't feel bad for the people who have chosen not to help themselves. I hate the idea of people mooching off welfare while others work. I have determined (from the things I have seen on the new, read in newspapers etc) that a lot of homeless people in this country have lost everything due to alcohol, drugs and gambling. I have personally seen the homeless collect money and buy beer and cigarettes instead of food. I don't feel bad for people who are weak and cant get help for themselves. People know they can rely on welfare so they dont try as hard as they should. Its too easy to get. We need to set time limits and stick with them. And we also need to drug test anyone receiving government money. That would take care of a lot of the problem.
I love our country and our military. Obama was for getting rid of our nukes, or downsizing them. We are the strongest country in the world and he would have turned us into an easy target. McCain is war veteran and supports our Armed Forces. I feel he will keep them strong and trained to protect us.
McCain already says he is for increasing the child tax credit (doubling it) and he wants Americans to pay less taxes. If you read up on him, he sounds pretty smart and like he wants to help us more than the democrats do.
I could go on and on and it is late. Just wanted to give a few of my views on things.
