I'm going to have a party (luau themed) and I've been planing it for quite a while. 2 weeks before the party, I find out this other girl that I know a little is having a luau party a week before mine and she invited some of the people I'm inviting. Everyone who went to her party said it was really fun. I know that she has a pool and they went swimming in it and had some other things that I planned on having. I don't have a pool so I wasn't planning on that. What games can we play and what food should I serve? I want my friends to think my party is just as good as the other girls party and have just as much fun. For food, all I have is chips, fruit kabobs, pizza, and cake. Anything else? Oh and there's a vegetarian that I'm inviting. So please nothing with meat in it! And for games, it's all girls ages 13-14.
Luau 14th birthday party help?
First, you need to have a very cool invitation for your party, that way people will be impressed from the beginning.
http://www.invitationinabottle.com/Luau....
Then order a lot of cool decorations and tableware, its fun to have a drink from a cocunut cup or with an umbrella in it.
Oriental Trading Co. is a good place and not that expensive.
If you don't have a pool, decorate your back yard with inflatable palm trees and many tropical touches. Hang fishnets on ceilings, doors and on tables.
Get food that has cocunut (cocunut shrimp) and chicken-pineapple skewers. Make fun drinks in the blender, like virgin pina coladas.
Light some tiki torches and get some cd's with some luau music. Get a limbo stick and have fun!
Reply:I think i'm doing this for my bday party this friday.
i'm having a hula hoop contest, and then a sleepover, but we're gonna do like make up and stuff there too.
try limbo, and do some themed music, like Jimmy Buffet.
Reply:Go to orientaltrading.com. They sell flower clips for your hair by the dozen and leis and beach balls, too. Your guests can make "grass" skirts from draw string garbage bags. They look best if you can find green garbage bags. Cut the bottom seam open and then cut up toward the draw string in one inch strips. Very cute!
Do you have a digital camera? Set up a "tacky tourist" photo booth. Hit some yard sales and your mom and dad's closet for some crazy clothes, hats and sunglasses - think Hawaiian shirts and straw hats and old cameras and beach balls and the like. Put these in an old suitcase and set up a back drop where your guests can ham it up. Take their photos and e-mail them to them with a thank you after the party. We did this at one party and made a palm tree out of helium balloons for the backdrop. I can't find the directions, but we used brown balloons for the trunk and green balloons for the palm fronds.
Teach your guest to make balloon palm trees:

Your party's going to be great. Have a wonderful time!

Birthday Party's? Which One?
My daughter is having a b-day party soon and im choosing between spa party, pool party or kind of like a feild day party wich one? Also suggest any others!
Birthday Party's? Which One?
Hey Kenz, I am going to say combine them! Spend some time at the pool head back to the house, have a field day and then you can have a spa-make it a sleepover too!
ur welcome
Reply:It would depend on how old she is..........First of all, you should ask HER what she wants, but I would say
PreTeen or teen will be spa or pool party
8-11 pool
anything younger.......do you REALLY want to watch all those kids in the pool??
What is a "field day" party??
Reply:Pool Party for sure!
Reply:For a girl definitely a spa party. Girls loved to be pampered no matter how old they are. On my daughters last birthday we had a Libby Lu party. The girls got their hair, makeup and nails done and they dressed up in costumes (some were rock stars, others fairies), she turned 5. Activities should be according to her age.
Good Luck...Have fun!!
Reply:totally the spa. it might be expensive but its sooo much fun.
Reply:The best kid's party we had was at a small local magic shop, only cost $80, and the owner put on a 1/2 hour magic show geared to the kid's age group in an upstairs theater
Reply:how old is your daughter? if she's a kid, pool party will do... if she's already in her teens spa party would be better...
Reply:They all sound like fun ideas, but how old is she? Parties we've had for my daughter (who is a Dec baby.)
age12 Rock climbing at a rock climbing gym
age13 Indoor Pool party
Age14 Bowling Party 50's theme and Sleepover
Age 15 Movies, Dinner and Sleepover
Age 16 Rented a Yukon 7 passenger and Drove to Yosemite to go Ice Skating had a Sleepover.
If you have a pool party/sleepover you can buy stuff for the girls to do facials and pedi/manicures. That way you kind of get both.
Reply:Depends on how old she is. Spa party would be more for a 17 year old or older. Pool party for a 14 year old to a 16 year old.

What makes a party fun? (For a 17th birthday by the way :)?
I'm turning 17 in two weeks and I want to have a party for the presents and stuff to be honest, but I hate having parties. My last party was when I was 13, I didn't even have a sweet 16 party last year. I like going to parties, yes, but I hate having them because I have to oversee all the guests and I feel horrible when people start breaking of into little groups and not doing whatever and looking like they're not having fun. How can I make a party fun for everyone (decoration ideas? theme? things to do?) so that it can be fun for me too? Thanks for any advice, I appreciate it!
What makes a party fun? (For a 17th birthday by the way :)?

Girl Friend Party:
(a special day for your friends' birthday day)
Blindfolded her and take her to get her haircut pay for that. Next pick up some videos and put the blindfold on her again. When you get to your destination (a made up salon in your house or a friends) take off the blindfold. Decorate the area like a salon...you will need to make signs, get streamers, and put accessories (make-up, hair products, facial products, nail products) on display.
Have some new makeup for you girl friend and do her nails, make-up, and hair and if possible pick out an outfit for her to wear. She never know what was happening next.
When you're done and have watched a movie, blindfolded her again and take her out to dinner with your male friends. (Have the guys pay for the dinner ;o)
Titanic Party:
A formal affair. For girls let let them dress together and make each other up.
Have servers and a Captain present for an elegant dinner. Find young musical entertainers to provide the background music.
After dinner an adult can man the black-jack and roulette tables.
Hire a Caricaturist to draw the guests (this will be their party favor).
Fortune Telling Party:
Hire a palm reader or have an adult dress like a gypsy and have their palms read. Also use tarot cards to learn to tell fortunes. Serve fortune cookies. For party favors give bangles, moon and star items.
Write Horoscopes: pass out pencils and paper to each guest. The "astrologer" asks them to write various items, the paper is passed to each player AFTER each item is written. Turn the paper down, so no one can read what is above. When completed, the last person signs their name to the bottom. They are then turned in and read using the 'story.' See link at horoscopes to get more information.
Mall Fun:
Scavenger Hunt:
Prepare the night before by going to the mall to find or think of things for the hunt. i.e.: number of stairs, escalators, things in shop windows, lost receipt, etc. The day of the party give each team a list of the items and within a specified amount of time see who comes up with the correct answers/items.
Party Favor / Game: Give each person $5.00 and see how many items they can purchase in a limited amount of time.
Hit the pizza parlor (or other) afterwards.
Regression Party:
Party like a 4 or 5 year old. Play traditional party games like pin the tail on the donkey, musical chairs, hot potato, drop the clothes pin in the can, scooping cotton balls from one bowl to another-blindfolded., etc.
Limo Romp:
Hire a limousine. Pick up the party goers and take them to a restaurant for dinner. Best best would be an "50's Diner" someplace were they can play goofy games. Make sure the limo is stocked with soft drinks, music, etc.
Hotel Party:
Get a two bedroom hotel room. One for the kids and one for the parents. Make sure it has all the amenities like pool and game room. Bring lots of popcorn, sodas, videos, etc (or if you prefer room service). Let the maids clean up the mess the next day.
Clothes Exchange and Redo:
Good for girls of roughly the same size, or a couple sizes. have everyone go thru closets at home and find clothes they don't want or that don't fit, clothes, purses, bags, shoes, socks, anything...Buy bits of ribbons, buttons, fabric, zippers, patches and sewing supplies. when everyone gets to the party, make piles of clothes that are around the same size. Then everyone can sew on the ribbons, iron on patches-make the clothes look different, maybe even buy some tie-dye, a kit should be around $20.00. Then swap clothes.
Beauty Salon:
Take the girls to a beauty salon to have their hair and nails done. Or do up their hair and nails at home in conjunction with a slumber party. For an activity, decorate pillow cases. Purchase one plain white case for each girl.
Disco Party:
Rent a disco ball, strobe light and get together some 70's movies. Have your friends come dressed for disco. Serve TAB
Traditional Party:
Are the above just a bit much? How about a regular, stay at home, do it yourselfer. Here are a few games and activities.
Murder:
Prepare slips of paper, enough for each player. All will be blank except two. One will be marked "Murderer" and the other "Detective". Let the players pick no one can say who they are. To play, turn out the lights and have everyone mill around. The Murderer must "strike" one person and they should go down. This "Victim" cries out and the lights are turned back on. Everyone then freezes. The detective then must determine who the killer was by asking questions. Everyone MUST tell the truth except the Murderer, who may lie as much as they want.
Potato Chip Taste Test:
Use about 5 different brands of chips in numbered bowls. Give each person a pad of paper to record which they like the most or comments about them. After everyone is done let them pick which goes to each empty bag. Let them read their comments.
Spaghetti Drop:
Need-bowls of cooked spaghetti noodles, plastic gloves and coke or other bottles (set for each team, relay style game)
To play-Have the teams line up. The first player, on go, puts on the gloves, picks up 10 noodles, runs to the bottle and must drop each one in. When the get all of their noodles in the need to run back and turn the gloves over to the next in line. First team finished wins.
Scavenger Hunts:
Nature hunt-list of items that can be found outdoors.
Use Neighbors-Find items on list by knocking on doors.
OR
Unnatural Nature Hunt:
This one takes work on the part of the parent. They would need to make up things to find outside.
i.e.:
an orange on an oak/pine etc;
a daisy "growing" from...;
rocks wrapped in foil;
Pickles growing in the soil;
other "freaks of nature." Give each person or team a notepad to keep track of what they find. Do not give them a list of these unnatural items...let them try to find them. Make sure you tell them the designated area.
If you have the toy Bop-It, pass this around and see how far you can get.
Here is another game suggested by Nancy Carter
Summer Snowball Fight (outside activity!)
Materials: Plenty of panty hose, preferably white (local $ store is a great resource) I think one pair will make about 10 "snowballs". 25lbs+ flour
Directions: Put a cup or so of flour into the leg of hose. Tie off as close as possible to the top of the flour. Cut the hose above the knot. You now have your first "snow ball" Try it!! Continue by tying, filling, tying, cutting. It's a bit of prep work - but worth it! The "snowballs" last a long time!
Warning: Be prepared for a mess! White will be all over everything in your yard! Use a leaf-blower to dust off the kids. Get as much as you can cleaned up before it rains. The memory is worth the mess!
1. Mail Order shopping. Tell the kids they have $75.60 (or some odd amount) to purchase an outfit with. See who can come up with the most complete outfit, most unique, etc
2. Letter shopping. Cut out squares with a letter on it (26 - a thru z). Set them on a table with the girls around it. They each pick up a letter and must name an item that can be purchased at
1. a department store (if they name an item within 5-10 seconds they get to move on to another 'store,' if not they continue until they can think of an item starting with the letter)
other stores to 'shop' at:
drug store, grocery store, hardware store, etc.
This game can continue, as if taking a trip...after the shopping, they can continue with cities, rivers, and people.
3. Make an autobiography: Make booklets from 8x11 1/2" paper. On the inside write on each page:
Myself
How I spent my childhood
My aim in life
What I enjoy
My biggest blunder
My best friend
My travel
My hobbies
Spending my money
etc
Have the kids find pictures out of magazines to put into the pages (this is for fun, and does not need to represent them entirely).
When they are finished, let them share their books.
4. Cut out of magazines (teen mags would would great) full pictures of people the kids would know (celebrities, etc) Cut off the heads and paste them onto the tops of others bodies. See if they can guess where they belong and who

Halloween party?
: now when i party on halloween its not celebrating halloween its just a good way to have a huge party is anyone out there going to any big parties??? ive been invited to 2 so i have to make a choice which one to go to okay heres the real question which party do i go to option (A).there will be lots of girls and drinking and tons of fun option (b) my frinds that i have known for years will be at one of their girlfrinds house which will probly hjave a little drinking but only bout 4 girls......(and my mom wont be home so im free to go wherever i want....
Halloween party?
Hmm...
Well, with the first one it could be a lot of fun..possibility of getting laid and wasted on the same.
On the second hand, your true friends are going to be at the other party, and they will probably be wanting you to show up.
If I were you, I would go to the second party, or take your friends to the big party.
Just remember that bigger isn't always better. At the big party you might have fun at first but then realize you aren't having fun anymore. Drama happens quick at parties, plus big parties always seem to get busted by pissed off neighbors. Whereas the smaller party, you could have the best time of your life. And who knows..there are still girls, so you could still get laid and wasted. ;)
Reply:i think the first one sounds more exciting and the second one sounds more safe and you end up in jail. you pickk
Reply:what time do they start cuz u can all-ways go to both just leave one earlier then expected say that u have to finish some homework
Reply:if you drive don't drink i'd go to the second one if u don't want to get pressured or in trouble.

Do you prefer our three party system or would you prefer to have more than three?
I personally like having three. I believe it would be to watered down and complicated once you have more than three parties. More division amongst the people, plus I would think that less gets accomplished. Although I would like to see our third party, instead of having multiple different parties that can take the independant spot, I'd like to see it permanently be the Libertarian Party, or at least some permanent fixture. The Libertarian party is after all the most well balanced party! I'm sure most moderates would choose from the Libertarian party if they knew it would be worth their time to vote something other than democrat or republican! Since that seems to be the trouble with the independant spot, it's usually a wasted vote.
Do you prefer our three party system or would you prefer to have more than three?
I like our current 2+ system.
In CA, during the gubernatorial recall when any rube could run for governor, everyone complained about it and called it a "circus."
Parties are good to weed out the goobers.
Reply:The US system is predispositioned for a 2 party system. This is because in many states to win a candidate MUST have a Majority of the vote meaning 50% +1.
If we had multiple parties strong enough to be contenders, it would create run-off elections. Not undoable as evidence by Louisiana.
If we were to get a viable thrid party up and running I believe one of two things would happen.
1. The Democrat or Republican party would fold.
2. Other parties would begin to spring up and for a time you could have 4 or 5 parties getting seats in the house and senate and that would last for a while until we went back to a 2 party system again.
I believe there are just too many advantages and preset reasons why this political system would end up that way.
Reply:tonight I'd just prefer a pool party.
It's friggen humid outside.
Reply:I think that we should have a no party system. People stand for what they stand for NOT for what some organization says they should.
Also, this would eliminate the conservative v/s liberal crap as well...
Get rid of the GOP and the DNC
Reply:What are you talking about "three party system"? The US is a two party system -- the term independent doesn't constitute a third party. I would prefer a parliamentary system which would allow for many different parties with varying views. It would make the legislating bodies far more centrist - much like the majority of the country. As it is now we're stuck with one extreme or the other, it is disgusting.
Reply:Whose 3 party system? The US has a 2 party system, but there ae additional parties that usually don't hardly make any noise.
Reply:Who says we have a three party system? In theory, perhaps, but, let's face it, it's Democrats and Republicans only.
The idea of having a third "independent" party means that a person can run for office without having to be a part of any certain party. If you added Libertarian (god forbid) as the third party you would would only be constricting the people's choice even further.
Voting for independent candidates is not always a wasted vote. The more votes an independent candidate gets the better chance they have of participating in public debates which helps to expose the voters to alternative policies other than those of Democrats and Republicans.
Reply:Since when do we have a 3 party system. In my view, republicans and dems are one and the same! They're a bunch of corrupt politicians.
Take the immigration bill for e.g., all they're trying to pass it for is more votes...they don' care that the illegals are ILLEGAL!!!
And Bush is doing it to bring on a new world order. Anyone who believes Bush is a conservative christian president..is loony!! He is a Cedar Grove, satanists..old school!!!
Reply:I would prefer to have publicly funded elections and to do away with lobbyists. Then we would see who really cares about representing our best interests.
Reply:id prefer a true republic without any parties.
Reply:having more parties , and a system that can get the average man elected without him having oil pals, being rich, or owned by various PAC's is true democracy

Birthday Party Ideas (7 year old)? Party is at home and will host boys & girls aged 5-to-10??
OK, my daughter is in the 2nd grade and about to turn seven. Kids at the party will be between 5-10 and I want everyone to have fun. I've already planned on making personal pizzas (kids get to make their own), kidz bop, Cake, and Wii. What else can I do to ensure everyone has fun (adults included) and is time managed? The party is in the afternoon and the hosting house is loaded with tools, I just need creative ideas.
Any thoughts? Cool game and gift (party bag type) ideas are what I really need help with.
The best advice will get the 10 points, of course, and thanks for your response.

Rather then doing a party bag with a bunch of stuff that will end up in the trash opt to buy each child one small gift like a stuffed animal or bracelet that they can keep. Also having games where they can win a prize would be fun.
Because it is co-ed and the different ages of kids you will probably have many activities going on at once.
You could have a game theme and have different games (twister, checkers, memory, mouse trap, ect.) set up throughout the house. To keep with the theme the prizes and gifts could be games as well.

Christmas party?
I think I'm going to go with a fire %26amp; ice party theme for this years Christmas party. Any ideas for how I could decorate or for the invitations? OR can you think of a better theme for the party? By the way money is not much of an issue so the bigger and more outrageous the better. The party is going to be for teens/college students so no drinking because everyone will be underage.
Your help is greatly appreciated! :) Thanks
Christmas party?
just a thought, invitations could be a roaring fireplace with ice stockings melting on hearth. if outdoors, have a nice fire pit, serving hot apple cider, hot chocolate, and slushie machine! if you have access to a fireplace, marshmellows %26amp; sticks, smores, could be fun too. you have a really unique idea. I may borrow sometime! have fun, whatever you do. Merry Christmas - Gramma H

Do a charles dickens christmas party.
GIVE prizes 4 the best out fits.
ROASt chest nuts on a open fire.
HAVE Scrooge show up.
Reply:Well, lots and lots of lighted candles will certainly give you the fire element. If you can either make some ice sculptures yourself or get someone to make them for you you can get the ice element. Since it's a Christmas party, try getting some "Christmas" scented candles. A balsam fir scent would remind folks of a Christmas tree and wreath. Yankee Candle has some really nice Christmas scents. Balsam Fir, Home for the Holidays, Christmas Cookies, Gingerbread, Frankincense, Christmas Wreath, etc. You can undoubtedly find some great Christmas scents from other candle companies as well. Or if you're not worried about the scents, just get some red, green, gold, and silver candles. For ice sculptures, think things like a tree, an angel, Santa, baby Jesus, ect.
