It seems that the Neo-Conservatives have hijacked the Republican party and are taking us down a path of limitless spending and international crises. Should fiscal conservatives and strict constitutionalist like myself bail on the Republican party and join another Conservative Party in America?
The parties that come to mind are: Reform, Libertarian, Independent Party of America, and Constitutionalist Party.
Some of these parties are more main-stream than the others.
A question to all of you Conservatives out there; Which 3rd Party would you join?
Should Conservatives bail on the Republican Party?
I'm not a conservative but I fully support your effort.I think also that as extremely radically the Republicans have been over the past 6-8 years, there will be extreme democratic swing to the left over the next few years.Maybe you are like me and kind of would like to see more middle ground or simply something other than radical swings.
Reply:You're absolutely right. That's why i've never understood why conservatives support the president when he is the opposite of what they represent. I wish there would be a Libertarian party, because that's what I would support.
Reply:no they should take it back. the neocons should never have been allowed to take over.
Reply:with the plurality electorial system in place, i doubt it will ever happen. I would personally join the libertarian or the constitutionailist party
Reply:The Democratic party is getting more and more aware Republicans with a gag reflex every day.
Once we restore Freedom and Democracy, we can argue about how to manage Social Security , or how to regulate the American Commons, etc.
For now it is not a Conservative vs Liberal Fight, it is a Freedom Vs Totalitarianism Fight, if you don't fight for the one you help the other
Reply:N O!!! Last Question: N O N E!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:I'm a Libertarian/Constitutionalist that usually votes Republican. Unfortunately the Dems and Repubs have hijacked our political system and have made 3rd parties politically impotant. Our founding fathers envisioned a multi-party system not a bi-party system as it is today. I think that most people just vote for the person that is most charismatic.
Reply:until campaign finance reform takes shape doing that would just put dems in power. this is the same for a liberal who wants to vote green so both sides of the isle will not allow campaign finance reform. we are stuck until something drastic happens. there are a few out there who can bring it back but they are being drowned out.
Reply:I think the religious right should just give back the party. I've always been liberal, but republicans were never this bad, until they were taken over.
and Libertarians are socially liberal so I don't know how many conservatives will go to their party
Reply:Which ever one has the best chance at winning elections. I could care less about the party, i just want someone to represent true conservative ideals.
